This Arts and Crafts Styled home is located in historic Schenectady less than one mile from Union College. The brick exterior with its large porches is reminiscent of a time when craftmanship was valued.

 

 

The interior decor of traditional wallpapers and antique furnishings is warm and inviting. The large fireplace in the common room beckons you to sit and relax or read a good book. On a warm summer evening enjoy the swing on the porch.

The two guest rooms are large and comfortable with private baths and a/c. Each room is furnished with antiques and decorated in its own unique style. Coordinated linens and accesories complete the package. The Garden Room has a queen size bed and on-suite bath. The Gate Room has a queen and a single bed offering guests the option of two beds. This room can also be suited with an additional room for 3 or more people in one party.

 

A full breakfast in served in the formal dining room or on the rear porch overlooking the perennial garden. The menu includes fruit in season, hot entrees with breakfast meats and breads/pastries. Coffee, tea and assorted juices are served in carafees. Special meal requests can be accommodated.

 

While in the area guests can bike along the Erie Canal on the Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway, stroll the Rose Garden in Central Park, attend a stage show at Proctor's Theater or visit the Historic Districts. Schenectady was settled on the banks of the Mohawk River and many of the early colonial structures remain today, in the Stockade Historic District. During the city's industrial growth a planned community was develped by the GE Company and the neighborhood is a designated historic site, known as the GE Realty Plot. A walking tour of either of these neighborhoods offers the visitor a step back in time. The grounds of Union College, its Jackson Gardens and Nott Memorial are also wonderful places to enjoy a bit of serenity.
